Welcome back to school, families! We are so excited for another year of learning. At this point, I’ve met with every class to talk about how our goal this year is to make our brain muscle strong (instead of flabby). This only comes with taking risks, trying hard things, and jumping into the learning pit. It’s going to be a great year of learning ahead!
We also have a lot of opportunities to get connected and get engaged: The APEX Fun Run is coming up next week and grade level socials coming up.
This month, our school-wide theme is that our school as a welcoming place where every student feels like he or she belongs. Teachers will be working with students to remind students to welcome others and act and speak in safe, respectful, and responsible ways. In addition we’ll be reminding students of our school rules and CARES (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control). This year, we’ll be teaching these expectations in every classroom using the Second Step program to support social emotional learning.
Support your child at home in welcoming others and acting and speaking in safe, respectful, and responsible ways. Please ask your child’s teacher if you have questions about specific ways you can help your child with these behaviors at home.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
On communication nights our teacher have very little time between the school day and parent meetings. The PTO provides meals for the teachers on these nights and we are looking for a few parents that have 30 minutes from 3:30-4 p.m. to help make this happen.
Volunteers would meet the food delivery person at school by 3:30 p.m., bring the meals and beverages to the Staff Lounge so everything is available for them to grab!
- November 1
