Winter has arrived! Please make sure to send your student to school each day with the proper attire for wet, snowy weather. Boots, snow pants, jackets, hats and gloves are recommended. We suggest waterproof mittens/gloves rather than the knit style. Please clearly label all gear with your student's name and send it in a labeled reusable bag. If you are in need of winter gear, contact Mike Alexander at 651-621-8020 or mike.alexander@
UPDATE FROM OUR STUDENT SERVICE ASSISTANT
Social Emotional Learning
In November we will be focusing our Social Emotional Learning Lessons on the Size of the Problem. Students will have opportunities to learn about what makes a problem an emergency and what problems can be handled quickly and moved on from. At home you can use this common language when it comes to problems that your kindergartener faces:
- Problem: something that happens that was not part of the plan and makes people feel uncomfortable.
- Size of the Problem: problems come in different sizes.
- Glitch/Small Problems: can be taken care of quickly (glitch).
- Medium Problems: take more time to solve and require adult help.
- Big Problem: take a lot of time, involve strong emotions, and require adult help (emergency).
- Reactions: come from feelings and it's the way we show on the outside how we're feeling by what we say and do when a problem occurs.

Last year we added several leveled texts to classroom libraries, which makes the Snail Lake literacy experience even stronger. Our goal for the year is to clip 22,000 box tops and we are currently at 3,800. The classrooms have a friendly competition against eachother to see who can collect the most!
