    Communication Parent Communication Night

    Please join us for our Parent Communication Night next Thursday, November 29, from 4:00-7:30 p.m. and have a chance to win one of the following gift cards:

    During the evening, parents will:

    * Learn about ParentVUE and its tools

    * Meet the Teachers

    * Get information on upcoming Extra Curricular Activities

    Teachers will be in their rooms and you may choose which teachers you wish to meet with on a first come, first serve basis. Please limit your time to 5-7 minutes per teacher. If more time is needed, we encourage you to set up a separate appointment with that teacher for another time. Students are asked to attend with their parents.

    Also, this past October, eighth grade students had the opportunity to take the ACT Explore test. These test results will also be distributed to families on this night and Edgewood staff will be available to answer any questions. We look forward to having you attend. 

    Eighth Grade Families - Please also join us that evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for an information session facilitated by Irondale High School Principal Amy Janecek to find out about opportunities available to your student and answer any questions you may have as you prepare them for the transition to high school. The session will take place in the Edgewood Cafeteria.


    Pass it Along Edgewood SAIL Program Pass-It-Along

    The Edgewood SAIL Program will be hosting a Pass-It-Along. Please stop by the LMC at Edgewood Middle School on Thursday evening, November 29, during Parent Communication Night from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m., as well as on Sunday, December 2, during the Lion's Waffle Breakfast from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to see if we have what you need! We'll have clothing, toys, holiday decor, some food, etc. Take what you need and, if you can, leave a donation to help support our student SAIL Program here at Edgewood. Enjoy the Lion's Waffle Breakfast in the cafeteria while you are here. More information on the waffle breakfast can be found below.

    Join the Mounds View Lions and LEOs Club for "Breakfast with Santa" on Sunday morning, December 2, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The breakfast features "all you can eat" Belgian waffles, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee. Cost is $8/adults, $5/ages 6-12, and FREE for kids under 5. Invite your family and friends for this fun event. There will be FREE eyesight screening for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Visit Santa and take a picture with him, enjoy FREE music and crafts, and sign up for a chance to win a giant Teddy Bear! A flyer can be found here.
     FTC Edgewood FTC Robotics Team Competing
    The Edgewood Robotics Team, Team #13787 Eagle Tech, will be competing in the North Branch Qualifier Competition on Saturday, December 1, from  7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at North Branch Middle School, 38431 Lincoln Trail North Branch, MN. There is ample parking in the North Branch school lot for families to come and watch. Teams and spectators may enter through either doors 1, 4 or 17. Concessions will be available for sale and proceeds will support the North Branch Robotics Program. Please consider supporting them; however, you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages.     Class Triip School Trip to Concordia Language Villages!

    ¡Hola Padres! Hello Parents!  Before MEA, we had the wonderful staff from Bemidji's Concordia Language Villages Spanish Camp visit our Spanish class.  We played games, sang, danced, and talked about Spanish camp... all in Spanish!  Linked below is a flyer with more information, as well as the link to registration, through Mounds View Community Ed.

    Registration is open and the cost is $325 for four days: May 16-19 (Thurs.-Sun.) and payment is due in March. Please contact Gina Fosse with any questions at gina.fosse@moundsviewschools.org. We hope your child can join us at Spanish Camp in May!

    Arts Drawing Club
    Drawing Club's first meeting will be on Wednesday, November 28, after school in the art room (Room 004). If you love to draw, come join us!

    Middle school co-curricular sports are a great way to engage in friendly competition. Athletes can compete in individual, partner, or team events in a wide range of sports offered throughout the year.

    • All participants receive a free activities t-shirt!•
    • Practices and competitions held immediately after school. 
    • Activity buses are available after practices for those eligible students.• 
    • Transportation is provided to and from all competitions•.
    • Activities do not meet on Fridays nor non-school days.

    KnightKrawler KnightKrawler Robotics
    Congratulations to Irondale's Robotics Team, #2052 KnightKrawler, and their alliance members, Team #1816 Edina Green Machine and Team #2512 Duluth East Daredevils, in winning the Minne-Mini Competition in Prior Lake last Saturday, November 17. KnightKrawler was the First Seed Alliance Captain going into the finals. The team also took home the Gracious Professionalism Award which is given to the team that demonstrates the greatest amount of Gracious Professionalism (GP). With GP, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. This is the highest award a team may receive at this competition. Way to go KnightKrawler!

    Bowling Irondale Varsity Bowling Team Going to State

    Congratulations to the Irondale Varsity Bowling Team who won the Conference Championship last Friday, November 9, at Mermaid Lanes. The varsity team will be represent Irondale at the State Bowling Championship on Saturday, December 1, at Drkula's in Inver Grove Heights. Congratulations to Irondale varsity team members Jaeger Hoog, Ricky Gustafson, Ryan Hemenway, Grace Bourgeois, and Edgewood students Joseph Bourgeois and Brandon Kreyer.

    Other team members include Lorne Mildenberger, Connor Rautio, Keagan Remore, David Loahr, Devin Munich, and Edgewood student Braisia Ferrian. 

    A very special congratulations to Edgewood student Brandon Kreyer who finished in the Top 10 for bowlers throughout the state. He also was named the conference MVP. Edgewood’s Brandon Kreyer and Joseph Bourgeios were named to the future stars team. Brandon Kreyer was named to first team all conference and Ricky Gustafson was named to second team all conference. Congratulations to all former Edgewood and current Irondale students on a great season and best of luck at State!

    kookoo Koo Koo Kanga Roo

    As part of the Music at Mounds View Series, come see Koo Koo Kanga Roo on January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mounds View High School Auditorium. Koo Koo Kanga Roo is the dance-a-long comedy show from Bryan and Neil, two friends who set out to experiment with live music and make it more fun. Armed with nothing more than an iPod, two mics, one giant rainbow and some gold sneakers, Koo Koo Kanga Roo puts on an all-ages dance party that invites everyone to join in.

    In addition to the youth programs and enrichment opportunities available through the District's Community Ed Department, a number of activities, camps and youth programs are hosted by area cities, local businesses, community organizations and school PTA groups.
