    Winter Break No School Reminder!

    Winter break will run from Monday, December 24, through Tuesday, January 1. School will resume on Wednesday, January 2. 

    Please note that the school office will be closed Monday, December 24 - Wednesday, December 26, and Friday, December 28 - Tuesday, January 1. The school office will be open Thursday, December 27, from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Voicemail messages will be reviewed and returned when regular office hours resume on January 2 as school begins.

    8th grade High School Registration Presentation
    On Friday, January 4, from 7:50-8:35 a.m., Irondale Deans will present to Edgewood 8th Graders about high school registration considerations. Students will receive a "mock" registration form and are encouraged to bring it home to their families to discuss courses for 9th grade. Students and families can communicate with middle school deans if they have any questions about 9th grade placements or other registration considerations. More information about transition activities for 8th grade families can be found under the OUR EYES ARE ON IRONDALE section below. 
    Eagle Eagle Leaders Field Trip

    On Friday, January 11Eagle Leaders will be touring the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf during our regular meeting after school. Students will leave Edgewood at 2:30, and will arrive back by 3:20, in time for the afternoon buses. This field trip complements the work that the Eagle Leaders have been doing by hosting food drives in order to support the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. There is no cost at attend this field trip. Eagle Leaders must return their permission slips by Friday, January 4If you have any questions regarding this field trip, please feel free to contact Sandy Solheim (651-621-6643).

    important Important After-School Reminder

    Safety and proper supervision of our students is important to us so students staying after the regular school day MUST be in a supervised program by 2:35 p.m. After-school activities end at 3:25 with buses departing at 3:30. Any students waiting for a ride at the end of the regular school day need to be picked up no later than 2:45. If you cannot arrive by 2:45 to pick up your student, we ask that your student go into one of the after-school programs until your arrival.


    snow day Snow Day Reminder

     Always assume schools are open and in session, unless you hear or see differently. 

    Families will receive a text, voicemail and email message within 20 minutes of a decision to close or delay school. 

    In addition, the District will post school cancellation information on District and school websites, Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. The District will also notify local media outlets, but cannot guarantee if or how the media will report the information provided.

    On winter days when the metro-area traffic is significantly congested because of poor road conditions, parents should expect most school buses will be similarly delayed.

    Class Triip School Trip to Concordia Language Villages!

    Registration is still open for Concordia Language Villages and the cost is $325 for four days: May 16-19 (Thurs.-Sun.) and payment is due in March. Please contact Gina Fosse with any questions at gina.fosse@moundsviewschools.org. We hope your child can join us at Spanish Camp in May!

    Due to the high demand for Anime Club, we must limit it to 15 people each week. A sheet has been posted on the door in the small hallway outside of Room 003. To be allowed to attend, you must be one of the first 15 to sign up by the start of the club on Friday. A new sheet will be posted every Monday.

    Chaperones should be at Egewood by 2:25 p.m. every Monday from December 10 - February 25 (no club December 24 & 31, January 21 and February 18) and will return around 9:00 p.m.

    Cold Weather Cancellation: When the National Weather Service’s noon forecast predicts temperatures at –20F or colder for the afternoon or evening and/or bus company, Washington or Chisago County Sherriff or ski area reports unsafe conditions, the ski program will be cancelled that day and rescheduled for the end of the session. For updated information call the Ski Hotline 651-621-7484 after 12:00 noon on the day in question.

    family skiing Family Ski Nights at Afton

    All District families, friends and staff members are invited to join us for a fun night of skiing and snowboarding. Afton is offering District families a very generous discount for both lift tickets and rental. Lift tickets are only $18.50 per person (same rate as last year) and meal deals are also available. The first family ski night is Sunday, December 30.     softball Girls' Softball Clinic

    Join the Mounds View High School Softball coaches and players for the 2nd Annual Youth Softball Clinic for grades 3 through 8. This comprehensive clinic will teach players the skills and drills that the high school coaches are looking for and help prepare players for Spring tryouts! 

    The clinic will be four Saturdays in January, February and March 2019. All players will work on offensive and defensive skills from 1-3 pm each Saturday.     kookoo Koo Koo Kanga Roo

    As part of the Music at Mounds View Series, come see Koo Koo Kanga Roo on January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mounds View High School Auditorium. Koo Koo Kanga Roo is the dance-a-long comedy show from Bryan and Neil, two friends who set out to experiment with live music and make it more fun. Armed with nothing more than an iPod, two mics, one giant rainbow and some gold sneakers, Koo Koo Kanga Roo puts on an all-ages dance party that invites everyone to join in.

    Lockermates are available for sale at $20 each. The colors available are black/red, royal blue/green, fuchsia/black, purple/teal, or orange/navy. Please email jenniferparlin1@gmail.com to order. The Lockermate will be available at Edgewood for your student to pick up.
