Class trip 6th Grade Class Field Trip
On Wednesday, January 23, the sixth grade will be attending the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. At the Minnesota History Center students will act as “history detectives” as they explore museum exhibits. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive history lesson. This field trip
complements standards in the 6th grade Social Studies curriculum. It is our expectation that all students will participate in this extension of the regular curriculum. Please contact your child’s dean, if you have any questions regarding this expectation. The cost of this field trip has been covered by Edgewood* as part of the district’s Equity Promise. Students will need to bring a bag lunch from home or purchase one from the cafeteria. Students will leave Edgewood between 9:00 and 9:15 and return by 2:25 for dismissal.

*The bussing costs of this trip have been reduced in part by Legacy Field Trip Support Funds from the MN History Center.

unity The Unity Event Is Coming

The Unity Event is a festival in place at Edgewood to help students celebrate the wealth of diversity that exists within our school building and the community. In our school, we have students from all different walks of life, who speak different languages and have unique traditions. With that we believe that all of us coming together and supporting one another is truly what makes Edgewood great! At this free event students will experience, learn about, and engage with a variety of different backgrounds. There will also be ticketed stations to purchase authentic snacks and play carnival games. This special event is held each year on after school on a Friday in February. Watch here for more information, date TBD.

All families and community members are welcome to be involved. If you are interested in being a Cultural Table Host please contact Chris Van House at christian.vanhouse@moundsviewschools.org or 651-621-6673. Any proceeds raised from this event benefit student support groups at Edgewood Middle School.

Always assume schools are open and in session, unless you hear or see differently.

Families will receive a text, voicemail and email message within 20 minutes of a decision to close or delay school.

In addition, the District will post school cancellation information on District and school websites, Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. The District will also notify local media outlets, but cannot guarantee if or how the media will report the information provided.

On winter days when the metro-area traffic is significantly congested because of poor road conditions, parents should expect most school buses will be similarly delayed.
