Course Description and Important Information
This introductory course is based on the business and marketing core functions which include communication skills, distribution, marketing information management, pricing, product/service management, promotion, selling, operations, strategic management, human resource management, and the economic impact and considerations involved in the sports, entertainment, and hospitality marketing industries. This includes learning about the professional, amateur, and non-traditional/extreme sports industry, entertainment events and event management, music/movie marketing, reality television, and current trends in entertainment. Course topics include: basics of marketing, marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion), target market evaluation, branding, athlete/celebrity endorsements, licensing of merchandise, corporate sponsorship, co-branding, and public relations.
