Board of Trustees
Ann and her family have lived in the Mounds View district for 22 years. Two sons have graduated from Mounds View High School and a third son is currently a senior there. Ann has a degree from the University of Saint Thomas in accounting and has worked primarily in service industries in the areas of finance, marketing, operations, and technology. She belongs to Mounds View booster clubs for hockey and lacrosse and Ann enjoys volunteering with Reading Corps.
Heidi and her husband are long-time residents of the Mounds View School District. They have three children, two Irondale High School alumni, and a current Irondale High School student. Heidi has served in a variety of volunteer and leadership roles within the schools in the district, including Pinewood, Sunnyside, Edgewood Middle School and Irondale High School. In addition, Heidi has served the District on the curriculum advisory committee, the facilities task force, the Irondale design committee and the Irondale Activities Committee. In 2017, she was the campaign manager for Neighbors United – the committee that supported the successful bond construction campaign. Heidi works part-time for two non-profit organizations – as the director of administration for the Gallagher Foundation and administrative director for Quincy House.
Jim DeMay is an alumnus of Mounds View High School (MVHS) Class of 1983 where he was active in Boy’s Tennis, Student Government and Quiz Bowl. He has held leadership positions in the MVHS Boys Soccer Boosters, Shoreview Park and Recreation Commission, Mounds View Irondale Hockey Foundation, Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies and the Hamline University School of Business.
DeMay works as a Director in Public Affairs for Pfizer Inc. He holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. from Hamline University. He and his wife, Channing Riggs, have a daughter Claire MVHS Class of 2018 and a son George MVHS Class of 2020.
Shelley St. Marie Diffley
Shelley and her husband, Jim, have a long history and anticipate a positive future with the Mounds View School District. Both are proud graduates - Shelley from Mounds View High School and Jim from Irondale High School. Additionally, their three daughters currently attend Turtle Lake Elementary. As a real estate professional with Edina Realty, Shelley recognizes that families choose to reside and often purchase homes in the Mounds View School District due to the district’s exceptional reputation. Shelley’s personal commitment and professional experiences will strengthen the Foundation’s effort to educate and inspire our community about the value of our work. Shelley also volunteers as an ambassador for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf.
Ann (Klosterman) Gentry is a Mounds View graduate, via Snail Lake and Chippewa. After earning a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ann moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to work with the Teton Science Schools and eventually held various instructional and coaching roles with the Teton County School District. Since her return to Minnesota in 2010, Ann has held several volunteer positions within the Island Lake community, her church and other non-profits. Ann and her husband have four children who currently attend Mounds View's ECFE programs and Island Lake Elementary.
Kim Gulli and her family have been residents of the Mounds View District since 1995. They have a son and daughter, both of whom attended Mounds View schools and have graduated from Mounds View High School. Kim is an ophthalmologist who left full-time practice several years ago and now travels primarily to Central and South America several times a year to perform cataract surgeries as part of medical mission work. Kim and her husband have been active and strong supporters of the Mounds View District, including Kim having volunteered as treasurer of the Mounds View Boys Lacrosse Association and co-president of the Mounds View Alpine Ski Team.
Mindy is Director of Community Partnerships with Mounds View Schools. She has more than 20 years of experience working in the areas of community relations and public affairs. She has expertise in building strong partnerships and relationships between corporate and nonprofit organizations. Mindy and her husband live in Shoreview and have three children who attended Mounds View.
Darin is the principal of Turtle Lake Elementary School. He began his career teaching at Snail Lake Elementary 23 years ago then moved into administration, where for the past 9 years he has served as principal of Turtle Lake School. Darin has a deep understanding of the value and importance of philanthropy as he previously helped facilitate a successful capital campaign at Turtle Lake. As an administrator, Darin will bring an important perspective to the Foundation. He resides with his wife and two sons in Oakdale.
J.J. Killins and her husband Ron have lived in the Mounds View School District for over twelve years. They have two children, one beginning high school at Irondale and one entering Edgewood Middle School. J.J. has volunteered in a variety of capacities in both the schools and the district. Notably, she was a member of the Facilities Task Force and served as photographer on the communications team for Neighbors United. She is the owner of J.J. Killins Photography.
Jen currently leads the Mounds View School District's Student Support Services. Jen has served in a variety of roles within the District over a 10 year period, including Associate Principal at Irondale High School and the Dean of the Area Learning Center. Jen provides the Board of Trustees with a unique perspective as an administrator and former dean. Jen resides in Braham, MN and spends much of her free time renovating her 1910 farmstead.
Joanne and her husband, Chris, are both Mounds View High School graduates, as are all of their children. Their daughter has just moved back into the district with her husband and baby – MV Class of 2034 perhaps? Joanne was very involved in the schools her children attended, including a year as PTA President and Co-Chair of the Senior All-Night Party. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College and has run a home business for 25 years. She is currently the owner of Best Day Ever! Weddings + Events.
John’s connection to the Mounds View School district includes both his own experience and that of his family. John and his three siblings are all graduates of the district and he has four children who have attended and since graduated from Mounds View schools. John served as booster president of the Irondale High School Marching Band Program while his son Sam was a member. As a local residential real estate agent, John recognizes that a strong public school system is critical to strengthening communities. He enjoys serving as a Foundation Trustee and contributing to our work supporting the kids in our district. John and his wife Nancy reside in Arden Hills.
Erik Rasmussen is Senior Vice President responsible for Employee Benefits Underwriting for Voya Financial. He is also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. Erik graduated from Mounds View High School in 1983 where he was the editor of the school newspaper, was a member of the National Honor Society and participated on the Boy’s Hockey, Tennis and Soccer teams. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota in Mathematics with an Economics minor. He and his wife, Janelle, have two children, who graduated from Mounds View High School in 2012 and 2016.
Erin is an Executive Fellow at the University of St. Thomas in the School of Education. In this role, she teaches and mentors students throughout their student teaching experience. Prior to joining St. Thomas, Erin spent 13 years in Spring Lake Park School District as a 3rd Grade Teacher, and most recently, an Instructional Coach. Prior to her career as an educator, Erin worked for Target Corporation in Marketing. Erin received her BA in Journalism and Public Relations, and completed her Masters of Arts in Education from the University of St. Thomas. Erin resides in North Oaks with her husband Greg, a proud Mounds View graduate, and their children. Their children attend Turtle Lake Elementary and Incarnation Preschool. The Stalsbergs are actively involved in Young Life, a non-profit, youth ministry organization that serves students in our community.
Dave and his family each possess unique connections to the Mounds View School District. Dave and his two children are Mounds View High School graduates. Dave’s wife Marsha, a recent Mounds View School District retiree, began her career in 1990 as a paraprofessional and concluded her work in the district as a health specialist in early 2016. Dave’s service to the District included multiple terms on the Mounds View School Board as well as 621 Foundation, now known as the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation. Dave and Marsha currently reside in Vadnais Heights.
Louise is Associate Professor Emerita at Bethel University where she served on the faculty for 15 years, teaching and chairing the Education Department. She has served on the Minnesota Board of Teaching as well as boards of education for P-12 and higher education institutions and non-profit service organizations. She currently serves on the Council of Accreditation of Educator Preparation, the national accrediting body for teacher preparation programs. Louise has a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Cognitive Psychology with research work on developing expertise in children. She taught for 15 years in a public high school district in Illinois and worked on a national school reform project during the 1990’s. She and her family have been residents of Arden Hills since 1985; their two sons both attended Mounds View schools.
Superintendent, Mounds View Public Schools
Chris Lennox began his tenure as superintendent of Mounds View Public Schools in July of 2016. Lennox has been with the District since July 2015, serving as the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. He came to Mounds View from Bloomington Public Schools where he was assistant superintendent for three years. Lennox previously served Stillwater Public Schools as assistant superintendent of learning and instruction for four years and as the high school principal for five years. Prior to joining Stillwater, he was with South St. Paul Public Schools for eight years in various capacities.
Heather is an experienced development professional with fifteen years of work in the philanthropic sector. Her experience includes the management of a corporate giving program, including both annual giving and capital campaigns, as well as working with major gift donors. In addition, her work has included facilitating board recruitment and development. Heather and her husband have a daughter that attends Mounds View High School.
Director of Operations
Eric is an Irondale graduate (via Sunnyside & Highview). In addition to his role with the Foundation, Eric is a Communications Technology Specialist for the Mounds View School District.
