6TH GRADE FIELD TRIP ON TUESDAY, MAY 29TH
6th grade families that Highview 6th graders are going on a field trip the Science Museum of Minnesota on Tuesday, May 29th. If you still need to turn in a permission slip... please use the electronic version found here.
Don't forget that students either need to order a lunch from food service (via the electronic permission slip) or bring one from home. Hawk Pride!!!
8TH GRADE END-OF-THE-YEAR CELEBRATION
On Thursday, June 7th we will have an End-of-the-Year Celebration with our 8th grade students at Driftwood Park in New Brighton. We will leave Highview at approximately 11:00 AM, returning at 2:30 PM. Students will be walking to Driftwood Park (2705th St NW) accompanied by Highview Staff. While at the park, students will be eating lunch. Students may order a box lunch from school, bring a lunch from home, or order a Jersey Mike’s lunch (assorted subs, freeze pop, chips and water) for $7.00.
Our goal is for all Highview 8th graders to participate in this celebration. Completed permission slips were sent home with students several weeks ago. Completed permission slips must be returned to your student’s first period teacher by Wednesday, May 30th. More copies are available in the school office or can be found here.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
We have a fun summer reading program we have starting at Highview. Join Highview's ‘Camp Read S-more’ this summer! There is nothing better than "camping out" with a good book. Join us at "camp" this summer and read this book that was chosen for your grade level:

Free Grab‘n’Go bag lunches for families will be available this summer on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, June 11-August 24 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1900 7th St NW, New Brighton. Check it out!
HIGHVIEW LOCKER CLEANOUT
Students will be cleaning out their lockers during the last week of school. Once students have cleaned out their locker—their locker combination will be changed. Students will not be able to use their lockers after that time. Please plan accordingly. Hawk Pride!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Mark your calendars now for Highview Hawk Pride Welcome Back Day on Wednesday, August 22 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Teachers will be here from 5:00-7:00 PM. Students will get their school photos taken; get their schedule and their locker assignment and more! Watch for a mailing to come to your house via U.S. Mail this summer with more information.
8th GRADE STUDENTS GOING TO MVHS
If you are interested in being on Student Council next year, this is the time to check it out. See Ms. Olinger for an application. No prior experience is necessary. Interviews will take place during the school day on May 29th.
FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
If your child has medication in the Highview Health Office, please stop by and pick it up before the end of the school year. Medications not picked up by the end of the school year will be destroyed.
If your student is due for any vaccinations, you will be receiving a letter sometime near the end of the school year from the Highview Health Office.

IRONDALE GIRLS SWIM AND DIVE TEAM OPPORTUNITY
Did you know that you can participate on the Irondale Swim and Dive Team as a 7th and 8th grader? The team is open to all 7-12 graders. We have a lot of fun both in and out of the water! We would like to invite all Highview girls and their parents to meet the team and find out more at our BBQ on Tuesday, June 26th at 6:00 PM at Long Lake Regional Park Beach. MIDDLE SCHOOL COLOR GUARD
This summer we have another exciting opportunity for kids interested in color guard! Our Middle School Color Guard program will start July 10 at 5pm. This is a great opportunity for kids going into 4th grade through 8th grade to learn, grow and experience Color Guard. We will be participating in 3 parades and 1 field show. Registration is open now until July 6th and registration forms can be found with the school's band directors or in the office. DONATIONS NEEDED
We are asking for donations of bottled water and individually-bagged chips to use at out 8th Grade End-of-Year Picnic. If you can donate, please bring it to the school office by Friday, June 1.
MVHS ORCHESTRA ROCK CONCERT
The annual Mounds View High School Orchestra Rock Concert will be on Tuesday, May 29th at 7:00 PM in the Mounds View High School Auditorium. It will feature our Rock Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, the winners of our rock orchestra singing contest, and special guest, Jeremy Darling. Come and hear how much an orchestra can rock out!
SUMMER GIRLS FITNESS CLUB
Calling all girls entering grades 8 - 12 in fall 2018…..Join the Girls Fitness Club this summer. The first hour will be spent doing a combination of cardiovascular exercises, strength training and yoga. The last half hour will be spent either
discussing a health-related topic or cooking together as a group. We will cook a healthy meal together once a week! The topics we will discuss include, hydration, stretching, nutrition, sleep, stress and more! We will meet for 6 weeks, 3 times a week. It will only cost you $100.00!
