Facilities Proposal Meeting
For the first time in 18 years, the District is asking residents to consider a bond proposal to add room at all schools in response to rising enrollment and stressed capacity. What does this mean for Sunnyside Elementary School? You’re invited to attend a community meeting on October 3 at 6 p.m. at Sunnyside. A School Board member, District administration and our school principal will present information and answer questions about the Election Day bond proposal for Mounds View Public Schools. All are invited to attend this meeting or any of the other meetings scheduled this fall. Learn more at www.moundsviewschools.org/facilities.
First PTA Meeting of the year
Are you interested in joining a great group of Parents and Educators dedicated to help Sunnyside be the best school it can be? If so, please plan on attending the first PTA meeting of the year on Tuesday, October 3 in the LMC. The meeting will begin immediately following the Facilities Proposal Meeting.
Special Education Meeting
Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory Council (SEPPAC) will host Special Education District Overview and Parent-to-Parent Connectedness on Tuesday, October 3rd from 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. at the Mounds View Public Schools District Center (4570 Victoria Street N, Shoreview).
Bev Zelinski, director of student services at Mounds View Public Schools, will provide an overview of District special education services. After this short presentation, the SEPPAC co-chairs will lead a parent-to-parent discussion group. Discussion will include how parents can help each other navigate the system and advocate for their child. This is a great opportunity to connect with other parents who also have children receiving special education services within Mounds View Public Schools.
Grandparents and Special Friends
The Sunnyside PTA is hosting Grandparents and Special Friends Day on Friday, October 6. We are looking for volunteers to help out with this fun day! Please follow this link to sign up.
In order to help promote all students’ health, as well as providing a safe environment for our students with food sensitivities, all elementary schools have guidelines for birthday celebrations.
If you wish to bring something to share with classmates for a birthday celebration, please limit it to a non-food acknowledgement. Donation examples include but are not limited to: student’s favorite book to the class collection, have a special “guest reader” read a book to the class, stickers, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, a board game to the class for indoor recess days, etc.
Your child’s teacher will also help recognize your child’s special day.
Lego League Jr. Coach
We are looking for a coach for 2nd grade Lego League Jr. this year. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Dr. Flansburg and Mrs. Baglien at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
