Signs of solidarity

  • December 2, 2016 -- Students and staff at Irondale High School kept their maroon and gold spiritwear in their closets on Friday. Instead of donning their typical Knight apparel, they chose to wear Mounds View Mustang green in a sign of solidarity with Mounds View High School in the wake of the recent tragic car accident.

Student Council members and staff organized efforts to great effect. Lunchtime in the cafeteria was a sea of green. Students made a poster wishing comfort and peace to their peers at Mounds View. And social media messages made it clear: “You are not alone. We’re in this together!”

Several school districts across the state also made similar gestures of support. “I can’t overstate our school’s appreciation for everyone’s thoughtfulness and kindness during this time,” said Mounds View principal Jeff Ridlehoover.
