Bond referendum resolution approved
In response to rising enrollment and stressed capacity, this spring the Board directed the administration to create a facilities development proposal addressing the needs across the District as identified by the facilities task force. The Board also asked the administration to estimate the associated costs and to create a timeline that would eventually allow the Board to propose a bond referendum for this fall.
In a unanimous vote, the Board adopted a resolution to formally call the election for November 7, 2017. If approved by voters, the Board will be authorized to issue general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $164.8 million for the betterment of school sites and facilities by addressing capacity, safety and security, infrastructure needs and shared school and community spaces. A successful bond would cost property owners a tax increase of less than $17 a month based on a median-valued house.
