Hello!

My name is Darcy and I teach English Language Arts teacher at the Mounds View eALC. I taught middle school for 22 years and this is my first year at the high school.

My office hours are every Tuesday morning from 7:30-8:30am, but feel free to email me anytime! I use this time to get in contact with parents to let them know of the great progress students are making in my class and if they're missing any assignments!

You can reach me by email at darcy.lapanta@moundsviewschools.org or by phone at 651-621-6213. My room is Room 6, the first classroom on the right when you enter the school.

All students are all either enrolled in a Google Classroom. Students should log in to Classroom to find missing assignments, due dates, and work on their homework there.

Course Title: English 11-12

Students will read, discuss, and respond to a wide range of fiction and nonfiction materials. We will follow the reader's/writer's workshop model which allows for a lot of student choice.  Units of study will include: short stories, non-fiction readings, film/video, research, and creative writing.

Course Title:  Perspectives in English

This class addresses the themes of adversity, conflict, and change through multiple perspectives using media, poetry, nonfiction, and fiction. Through text, discussion, and writing, we will address the central question, “How do we best understand our world through multiple perspectives?” Our focus will be on historical events as well as current social issues.
