    In Mounds View Public Schools, the term Flexible Learning Opportunity Day refers to a school day where students engage in alternate educational activities off campus.

    Under what circumstances would a Flexible Learning Opportunity Day be announced?

    A Flexible Learning Opportunity Day may be instituted during inclement weather, particularly during school years where a higher than normal number of days are affected due to unsafe or difficult weather conditions.  In the event of an announcement of a Flexible Learning Opportunity Day normal district-to-family communication (email, telephone, text messaging) will be utilized.

    What is the purpose of a Flexible Learning Opportunity Day?

    Mounds View Public Schools understands that learning can occur anywhere, anytime and under different circumstances.  Besides emphasizing the overall value of learning, the use of a Flexible Learning Opportunity Day encourages collaboration, exploration, creativity and imagination.  Engaging in Flexible Learning Opportunity Day activities will allow students to extend learning from the traditional classroom setting and minimize the disruption that can occur during traditional emergency school closings.


    How would a student or family access
    Flexible Learning Opportunity Day Materials?

    Hardcopies of Flexible Learning Opportunity Day materials will be provided to each student and family in the fall.  In addition, all Flexible Learning Opportunity Day materials are available via a website link on each school webpage.


    Will teachers be available during Flexible Learning Opportunity Days?

    Yes, teachers will be regularly monitoring their email accounts and will respond to student and family questions during the typical school day.
