    woods Edgewood School Forest

On Friday, December 1, during Period 8, some Edgewood students will be working with members of the Minnesota DNR and Conservation Corps to help eradicate invasive species in the Edgewood school forest. The emphasis will be on buckthorn, as it has spread widely through the forest, and threatens native species. This event will involve lessons from forestry professionals, group projects and service learning. Students will be participating with their STEAM class (Edgewood Engineers, Outdoor Adventures, Wild Crafting and Photography), and will be connecting this event with their class content. It is going to be a great event for staff and students, but also a very important step towards a healthier school forest.

A staff member from the MV School District Communication Dept. will be here taking video footage and photos of the students participating. If your student is in one of these STEAM classes participating and you DO NOT want any photos or videos taken of him/her to be published, please e-mail at shannon.mildenberger@moundsviewschools.org with the name of your student requesting that they are not photographed/videotaped.
