Laurentian Environmental Center Trip September, 2018
May 28, 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians of Highview 6th grade students,
For many students in the Mounds View School District, their trip to the Laurentian Environmental Center (LEC) was a highlight of their middle school years. We are very excited to announce an opportunity for our current 6th grade students to participate in the Laurentian trip in the fall of 2019, during their 7th grade year. Students will spend 3 days and 2 nights of educational and team-building activities in the northwoods of Minnesota.
LEC is a public residential educational facility that combines environmental education, leadership training and outdoor skills recreation programs. Please visit the LEC website at www.laurentiancenter.org
for more information.
All students are strongly encouraged to attend this trip, as they will be working on important leadership and life skills tied directly to the District’s 12 Habits of Mind framework. Students who elect not to go to LEC will attend school that week.
