MCA Testing Information

The remaining MCA testing dates are listed below for both in-person and distance learning students. Please know that if your child does not take the MCA's this spring or misses one of the assessments, this will in no way have a negative impact on your child's future placements. Per our district's guidance, we will not be hosting make-up dates for MCA assessments.

Please help remind your student to come prepared for testing by:

  • Making sure Chromebooks are charged
  • Bringing their Chromebooks to school
  • Bringing headphones or earbuds (needed for testing)

  • Wearing masks

Test information for in-person learning students

Testing for in-person students will look similar to how it has looked in previous years. Testing will take place over one full day. Unless you wish to opt your student out of testing, you do not need to take any action, as testing will occur during the school day. There will be no make up dates for testing.

The Math MCA assessment (In-Person Learning Students) will take place on the following dates:

6th Grade - May 4th

7th Grade - May 5th

8th Grade - May 6th

The Science MCA assessment (8th Grade In-Person Learning Only) will take place on May 19th.

Test information for distance learning students

MCA testing cannot be done remotely. To take this test, distance learning students will need to attend school and take the test in person. Testing will take place in one full day. Transportation and meals will be provided, if necessary.

We fully support the choice of parents and guardians to consider their family’s health needs when deciding whether or not to allow their student to come into the school building for testing. We know that this pandemic has affected families across our school district.

Options available for distance learning students:

  1. If you do not feel safe sending your student to school to take the MCA test due to circumstances around the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand and honor your decision. Please complete the survey below to let us know.

  2. To indicate your preference for MCA testing this spring, please complete the survey below to let us know. These health and safety measures will be in place to ensure

  3. students and staff stay safe during testing.

MCA Distance Learner Participation survey

For distance students that choose to test, the assessment will begin at 7:45am and will likely finish before 12:00pm. When your student finishes testing, you will be notified to either pick them up or allow them to walk home. If absolutely necessary, we will provide transportation at 2:15pm. Your student will use the time between finishing the test and 2:15pm as a study hall.

The Math MCA assessment (All Distance Learning Students) will take place on May 7th.

The Science MCA assessment (8th Grade Distance Learning Students Only) will take place on May 21st.

Choice to opt out

The state requires school districts to annually administer the MCA. As a parent, you have a choice to decide whether or not to have your student take this or any other statewide assessment. If you have any questions about opting out, please contact your student’s dean. Resources for families about statewide testing can be found here.

Please contact your student’s dean with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
