District receives Best Communities in Music Education award for 10th consecutive year

Mounds View Public Schools has been honored with the Best Communities in Music Education award for the 10th year in a row. Mounds View was one of only seven Minnesota school districts to receive the designation for 2022. This year, more than 3,300 students in grades 4-12 chose to participate in band, choir and orchestra.

This award, presented by the NAMM Foundation, honors school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Mounds View Public Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
