Operation Joy yields 4,000 gifts

The Ralph Reeder Food Shelf collected more than 4,000 gifts this holiday season during its annual Operation Joy Campaign that benefits Mounds View Public Schools families. Thanks to more than 80 community volunteers and donations from area churches, schools, businesses, clubs, individuals and Toys for Tots, 843 children (ages birth to 12th-grade) received gifts this year. Qualifying families who registered with the Food Shelf were invited to the Operation Joy Toy Shop in December to pick out gifts for each of their children as well as food for the holidays. During the holiday season, District schools helped to raise nearly 9,000 pounds of food, just under $13,000 and 500 assorted toys and gifts for the food shelf.
