Summer Programs

  • Summer 2020 online
This summer, programs will be delivered through distance learning as a result of COVID-19 and public health guidance for social distancing. Here’s what that will look like.

    Summer school instructional programs
Mounds View Public Schools offers summer instructional programming for students at every level, from Kindergarten through grade 12. Our focus for Kindergarten through grade 8 will be on reading and math, and ensuring students are prepared for the next level. At the middle school level, students will engage in project-based STEAM activities. While there is an academic component embedded in activities, students are free to select the project of their choice, based on their own passions and interests. At the high school level, the focus will be on transition, in addition to academics and continued learning to earn credit that was not completed during the regular school year. All instruction will be delivered through distance learning approaches similar to spring semester.

Special Education Extended School Year (ESY)
The Minnesota Department of Education has directed school districts to deliver ESY services through a distance learning delivery model. Questions about ESY may be directed to your student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) case manager.

    Community Education
Community Education offers a variety of summer programs and opportunities including youth and adult activities, enrichment classes, GED preparation, English Language Learner classes, early childhood classes, parent education classes and more. All opportunities will be held virtually in summer, with no in-person gatherings at any school site. To learn more and to view a summer catalog visit here.

    Band and Orchestra
Summer band and orchestra will be offered virtually July 6 - July 30, with various times for all instruments and students.  Students will be able to use school chromebooks and will also receive a subscription to SmartMusic. These will be necessary resources for distance learning instruction. Students will be able to pick up instruments and other materials the last week of June as needed. Details will be provided at a later date.  There will be no concerts this summer. Summer band is offered for students entering grades 5 - 9, and summer orchestra is offered for students entering grades 4 -12. Learn more here:
