The 2017-18 school year marks my 21st year as an educator and administrator in the Mounds View Public School District. My career began at Snail Lake Elementary in the fall of 1997, where I taught for eight years as a fifth grade teacher. Following my time at Snail Lake, I served for two years as a fifth grade teacher, a reading interventionist, and the Instructional Strategies Facilitator at Island Lake Elementary. This is my eighth year as the principal of Turtle Lake Elementary School, having initially been hired here to serve as the Student Services Assistant in the fall of 2006. Personally, my wife and I live in Oakdale with our two sons, spending a great deal of our free time at local hockey rinks and baseball fields. I am very proud to be the principal of Turtle Lake, working with a school community that is driven to providing a first rate educational experience for all children.
Students enrolled at Turtle Lake benefit from a comprehensive plan created to ensure that each child will be prepared for post-secondary success. Turtle Lake staff members take great pride in crafting for each student a personalized elementary experience, using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the learning needs of students at all levels. We are committed to providing rigorous academic learning opportunities while nurturing the social and emotional growth of each child. Through direct teaching and consistent reinforcement of the skills necessary to be a positive member of our learning community, students understand their role in helping to form a school culture that is respectful, responsible and safe.
In an effort to maximize the amazing support we receive from families, teachers have developed multi-faceted, flexible communication plans which outline the strategies offered to support the development of this important partnership. Through ongoing communications during the school year, parents and teachers work together to monitor the growth and achievement of each student. Turtle Lake staff members take pride in building positive relationships with the students and families we serve!
I would like you to feel comfortable to contact me with any questions you have about Turtle Lake. I look forward to working with you to help your child meet their goals, this year and in the years to come.
